Lahore,31 October Nazrana Times,
At a meeting held at Punjab House, Karamat Ali Sheikh, Secretary General of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Punjab, emphasized the crucial role of lawyers in shaping Pakistan’s democratic and constitutional future. He said MQM stands as the only political party in the country that ensures representation for lawyers in Parliament, while also empowering the educated youth from poor and middle-class backgrounds to serve the nation through democratic means.
Sheikh highlighted that the Lawyers Forum forms the backbone of Pakistan’s civil society, and it is the collective duty of legal professionals to raise national issues effectively and work toward their resolution through lawful and constitutional channels. “Our mission,” he said, “is to give voice to the voiceless and ensure that justice reaches every citizen — this is the very spirit of MQM’s manifesto.”
The meeting was attended by Office Secretary Mirza Saeed Ahmed Baig, Lahore Zone President Irteza Kazmi, Advocate Waheed Gujar, Advocate B.A. Khan, Advocate Adnan Khan, Advocate Chaudhry Ilyas Khan, Advocate Zahid Khan (Vice District President Lahore), Chaudhry Imran Gujar (District President Lahore), Sheikh Sajid Ali, and a large number of lawyers.
reaffirmed their commitment to upholding the supremacy of the Constitution and the rule of law, vowing to make every possible sacrifice in defense of these principles. The gathering also discussed strategies to strengthen MQM’s Lawyers Wing and expand outreach to the legal community across Islamabad and all four provinces, particularly Punjab, in support of MQM-backed candidates in upcoming bar association elections.
Adding a historical reflection, Sheikh noted that Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, was himself a distinguished lawyer whose advocacy laid the foundation of the nation. Likewise, Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal (may Allah have mercy on him) — the national poet who envisioned Pakistan — was also a lawyer. “Our profession is rooted in Pakistan’s very creation,” Sheikh remarked. “It is now our responsibility to carry forward that legacy by ensuring justice, equality, and national unity.”
The meeting concluded with a special prayer for the peace, progress, and prosperity of Pakistan.
