Shaheen Afridi to Miss T20I Series Against Sri Lanka

Left-arm fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi is set to miss Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka, according to reports.
The decision has reportedly been taken to leave Afridi out of the home T20I series. However, the 26-year-old fast bowler is expected to captain Pakistan in the upcoming tri-nation ODI tournament featuring England and Sri Lanka, scheduled to be played from October 18 to 31 in Rawalpindi and Lahore.

Shaheen has taken 136 wickets at an average of 21.35 in 103 T20 internationals for Pakistan, making him the country’s leading wicket-taker in the shortest format.
Reports further indicate that the team management and selection committee want Afridi to feature in Pakistan’s two-Test home series against Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, right-arm fast bowler Haris Rauf is also reportedly unlikely to be included in the T20I squad. The 32-year-old has taken 133 wickets at an average of 21.10 in 94 T20 internationals. His most recent T20I appearance for Pakistan came against India in Dubai on September 28, 2025.
