In a significant development aimed at safeguarding the provincial airspace from hostile drones, the Home Department has equipped the Punjab Civil Defence with state-of-the-art anti-drone guns.
Officials confirmed that the Punjab Civil Defence has been officially provided with the advanced EMG-150 Anti-Drone Gun, a sophisticated system capable of neutralizing unauthorized unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) mid-flight.
Technical Capabilities:
The EMG-150 is a lightweight, portable system weighing only 6 kilograms, designed for high mobility and precision. It has an effective operational range of 2 to 3 kilometers, allowing it to jam and down hostile drones from a significant distance.
Equipped with eight different frequencies, the gun is capable of disrupting the control signals of virtually any drone used globally. It utilizes a high-gain directional antenna to accurately target UAVs and interfere with their navigation systems.
The system can jam a wide array of satellite signals, including GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, and BeiDou. With a powerful jamming output of up to 200 watts, it can force a drone to change its course, land immediately, or become inoperable. The device is rugged and reliable, engineered to function effectively in extreme temperatures ranging from -22°C to over 65°C.
Deployment and Training:
As a pilot project, the first unit of the anti-drone gun has been handed over to the Rawalpindi Division to enhance the security of sensitive installations.
To ensure effective utilization, the Bomb Disposal and Anti-Drone Squad of the Civil Defence is undergoing specialized training conducted by the National Radio & Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC) , which is also the manufacturer of these systems.

Official Statements:
The Secretary of Home Department stated that in line with the vision of the Chief Minister of Punjab, the capacity of the Civil Defence is being continuously enhanced. He noted that these modern guns will play a crucial role in securing vital installations and public events.
The Secretary further added that the NRTC will manufacture additional anti-drone guns to meet the requirements of other divisions across Punjab, ensuring that the province remains protected from emerging aerial threats.
