Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held an important telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi on Thursday, as regional tensions continue to rise.
During the call, both leaders discussed the latest developments in the Middle East and exchanged views on ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at preventing further escalation and restoring stability in the region. They stressed the urgent need for continuous dialogue and strong diplomatic engagement.
Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi briefed Dar on his recent visit to China, where detailed discussions were held on regional and international matters important to both Iran and Pakistan.
Araghchi also thanked Pakistan for helping in the repatriation of Iranian nationals from seized vessels earlier and appreciated Islamabad’s diplomatic and humanitarian support, calling it an important confidence-building step.
The two ministers also discussed the ongoing indirect talks between Iran and the United States. Iran is currently reviewing the latest U.S. proposals related to ending tensions, including issues linked to the Strait of Hormuz and wider de-escalation efforts.
Iran has already sent a detailed 14-point response through Pakistani channels, demanding sanctions relief, release of frozen assets, and guarantees against future aggression before any final agreement.
Both sides reaffirmed their strong bilateral ties and agreed to maintain close coordination and high-level contacts to deal with the fast-changing regional situation.
The conversation highlighted Pakistan’s growing diplomatic role in supporting peace efforts and humanitarian cooperation during a critical period for the region.
