Pakistan Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir Meets Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Tehran

TEHRAN / ISLAMABAD, April 16, 2026 – Nazrana Times
Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, held a key meeting with Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian in Tehran on Thursday, as part of Islamabad’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to revive stalled US-Iran negotiations.
The high-level discussion focused on regional security dynamics, the fragile ceasefire environment, and prospects for facilitating a fresh round of indirect talks between Washington and Tehran.

President Pezeshkian reaffirmed Iran’s willingness for “constructive engagement,” while emphasizing that Tehran would not compromise on its core national interests, particularly regarding nuclear issues.
Field Marshal Munir conveyed messages from the United States side and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to de-escalation and long-term stability in West Asia. The meeting highlighted the strength of Pakistan-Iran bilateral relations and underscored Pakistan’s growing role as a trusted facilitator, leveraging its strategic geographic position and diplomatic outreach.

The engagement followed Munir’s arrival in Tehran on April 15, where he was received by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. During his visit, he also met with senior Iranian officials, including Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.
Nazrana Times will continue to monitor developments and provide updates on this significant diplomatic initiative.
