Kashmir and Khalistan Black Day Protest Held Outside Indian High Commission in London

Chairman of the Global Pak Kashmir Supreme Council Raja Sikander Khan, President of the All Party Kashmir Co-ordination Committee and President of Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK Fahim Kayani, joined members of the Sikh community in organising a demonstration outside the Indian High Commission in London to mark what organisers described as Kashmir and Khalistan Black Day on 15 August, India’s Independence Day.

The protest brought together British Kashmiri, British Pakistani and Sikh participants who travelled from across the United Kingdom to express solidarity with the people of Indian-administered Kashmir and support the cause of Khalistan.

The demonstration opened with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. Raja Sikander Khan welcomed the participants and thanked those who had travelled to London to take part. In his opening remarks, he outlined the organisers’ stated purpose and discussed what he described as the historical significance of the day.

Fahim Kayani also addressed the gathering, speaking about the significance of the protest and outlining its objectives while coordinating the proceedings.

Participants carried Kashmir and Khalistan flags, alongside banners and placards bearing slogans including “Free Free Kashmir,” “Stop Killing in Kashmir,” “Freedom for Khalistan,” and “Freedom for Kashmir.”

During the demonstration, protesters raised slogans criticising the Government of India and the administration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Speakers and demonstrators called for what they described as the right of the people of Kashmir to self-determination and demanded an end to what they characterised as Indian control of the region.

Protesters also called for the release of Kashmiri political prisoners and raised concerns over the sentences imposed on Kashmiri political figures, including Yasin Malik and Asiya Andrabi.

The organisers said the demonstration was intended to draw international attention to the Kashmir dispute and to express solidarity between Kashmiri and Sikh communities in the United Kingdom.

Amongst the protesters and speakers were Chairman Pakistan Khidmet E Khalaq League (PKL) Barrister Mahmood Khan, Ex Secratery AJK Ch Abdul Hameed, Zafar Ahmed Qureshi, Ch M Sharif, Ch M Ramzan, Farukh Qureshi, Sajid Malik and amongst the Sikh leaders were Ranjit Singh, Joga Singh, Amrit Singh and Gurcharan Singh.

In his closing remarks, Raja Sikander Khan thanked all those who attended for their time, commitment and support. He also wished participants a safe journey home
